I think it is hilarious that Tang pulled off the signing without it being in the great gossipsphere. Either it was done purposefully or big pundits like Joe Tipton did not give a rat's ass. Tipton and a couple locals work for On3. They pretty much have put Trilly Donovan out of business.

as some of us wrote, it's early in the process at least on coach tang's time line. and yes, we're all waiting to see which big he can attract - next? there are several in the pipeline evidently.

i too was pleased to see jones's signing without all the pre-drama/hype. maybe this is the new model for tang's gang. i personally hope so.

and i agree with you guys that he's going for bigger guards who can actually shoot the ball. how refreshing that would be! the offense consistently put guys in position last year. but they were either too short or slow to get it off or couldn't hit the broad side of the barn when they did, assuming they didn't turn it over first.

baylor 2.0 perhaps? yes, that would be nice.

This team is starting to remind me of back in the 80s and that Illini team that had Kendall Gill and Kenny Battle and Nick Anderson. All of them were around 6'5 and 6'6, long armed guys who could really play. Keyonte Johnson was 6'4", could shoot and defend. These guys Tang is picking up are like him size-wise. I hope they are as athletic.

down to a dominating big, methinks. in my view, full rosters these days are a waste of time. the non-rotation guys are either bad or leave, like ames and rj. might as well limit the roster and have some scrimmage guys like the women's team than to waste a bunch of time developing young dudes for smu and tcu. seriously, what's the point of having full rosters in these days of pay-to-play? eight/nine man rotation is sufficient anyway.

I read an article today in which he said that he was going with 9 scholarship roster. Like Tmcats says and Calipari agrees, why develop bench players for other teams.
Calipari said he would use walkons and grad assistants in practice. Maybe JUCO ball will have a resurgence. Or Division 2? Coaches are going to be reluctant to recruit HS players.

Looks like Tipton says we are fading in Toppin sweepstakes.

Makes sense, 9 players who may all be good enough to be in the rotation. If some do not get to play they will likely be encouraged to transfer.
