He averaged 21 & 8 in his two years with us and hardly anyone even mentions his name among our past greats.stlcatfan wrote: ↑December 29th, 2020, 9:39 amLooking at that list, I forgot about Norris ("Sarge") Coleman. While I don't think he was a Top 5 or Top 10 player in KSU history, he certainly merits an honorable mention, IMO. Great college player.Piedmontcat wrote: ↑December 28th, 2020, 11:27 pmhttps://basketball.realgm.com/ncaa/conf ... ba-players
Since we are talking about our greats, this is a look at our history in the NBA.

Michael Beasley. Had one of the best individual seasons ever in college basketball, as a freshman.

Michael Jordan was on Jack Hartman’s Pan Am team.

I'd say Oscar Roberson was the best BB player to ever play in Ahearn or The Bram.
Wilt Chamberlain played here, too, but no comparison to The Big O.
Walt Hazzard was pretty danged good, too.

He brought the program back to respectability in the mid ‘80’s. Great offensive player.Piedmontcat wrote: ↑December 29th, 2020, 10:54 pmHe averaged 21 & 8 in his two years with us and hardly anyone even mentions his name among our past greats.

He'd spent 5 years in the Army before coming here as a 24 year old freshman and was about 25 and a half when he left after his sophomore season. I think he may have played that year with Mitch Richmond, Steve Henson, Charles Bledsoe and Wil Scott. I don't know if Sarge was too old to keep playing college ball but that group was pretty good. Not sure how far they went that year.bigpurpleman wrote: ↑December 30th, 2020, 3:38 pmHe brought the program back to respectability in the mid ‘80’s.
