We have to get more scoring from those other than Lee. Sundell did fine, but we just had two with double figure scoring. Texas had 5. I really thought after playing without Lee last year that helped develop more options. But we’re still to one dimensional much of the time.
I agree. I think we play timid early in games. No one wants to shoot it because there is always the Lee option if we work the offense enough. I think we turn down a lot of decent looks and end up with a terrible shot or no shot because they are all looking for Lee.

Don't get me wrong. Lee absolutely should be option #1, but our offense struggles to get in rhythm at times because no one wants to miss a shot. We look pretty good against lesser opponents, but these tight games we need others to step up and take shots with confidence.

i agree with all of this. Tell this to the people that are constantly whining about Lee not getting enough touches. Tough situation-darned if you do, darned if you don’t. My only complaint on who is shooting was when Gregory was in her almost season long slump she shot too much.

I missed where everyone was saying Lee didn’t get enough touches. I agree with Wyldkatz 100%. We don’t seem to play with a lot of confidence. We play timid and we don’t have a catch and shoot 3 point specialist. They did fight and made it close. Jones looks like a high schooler when she plays Lee. Lee is so much better than her.

I still question Mittie’s coaching. The girls played their hearts out.

The refs were no help either. It was obvious from the start Texas was going to get all the calls. Shaeffer intimidates the refs and Mittie is no factor.

Not a total loss for me though. My wife got to participate in the halftime musical chair comp of the ISU/OU game and got a $250 Phillips 66 gift card. Not a bad 2nd place prize😎

I thought that I saw a couple of travels on TX and one or two muggings on both Serena and Ayoka that weren't called, but maybe K-State caught a few breaks also . . .

Yes, but when the game was on the line in the last couple of minutes, Texas got the benefit of the doubt on all of the close calls. I don't know why this usually happens, but it does.

Pick 'Em

afterthoughts ...

1. this is a meaningless tournament except to the winner - probably texas;
2. state is just too reliant on lee who was good not great yesterday - 25 and 10;
3. i thought the highlight was glenn getting after madison booker defensively the second half - need more of that tenacity;
4. serena looks weary to me - exacerbated by the lip blow - six turnovers negated her six assists;
5. gabby was 3 for 5; 2 for 4 from behind the line - she is simply not shooting enough to my liking;
6. sanchez, sides, maupin all need to get in the weight room - they are too often mauled;
7. walker was the only cat with a positive number on the not-play-hard-chart - she was +4;
8. madison booker is a joy to watch - engineering student as well - i appreciate that;
9. iowa state has peaked at the right time - it will be an interesting final - i'm ambivalent;
10. our gals have a lot of hoops left to play this year - will be good to rest - then play teams who are not as familiar with them.

Always the case, regardless of the sport. I still don't understand this conference's constant "homage" to all things Texas....hey Big 12 office...they're leaving. We don't need to bow down to the longhorns.

The turnovers by the ladies (must be something with K-State basketball in general) sure didn't help matters. So frustrating to see that happen repeatedly.

They played hard though. I love the feistiness I saw on a few occasions....need to see more of that.
