Good to know WHEN KSU gets back to the final four I more than likely won't be able to afford it.

I think when many of us piss and moan the powers that be see it as the same-o, same-o. This is the moment they live in. Every year more complaints and every year another mob of wide-eyed fans spending their last dollar to support their colors. Cha-ching. Until we put our money where our mouth is and vote with our dollars nothing will change. At least nothing that does not make the rich richer. I am about ready to move on but doubt I will have enough company to matter. Only losing games will keep faithful home. So, here we are in an endless cycle, hating the system but unable to stay away when we have a good team. Like lemmings approaching the cliff.

I think for me, the point where I will likely check out is if/when "college" players become unionized employees of the school rather than student-athletes. At that point, it is just semi-pro ball, one step below the USFL and XFL in football and the G-League in basketball.katlander wrote: ↑April 2nd, 2024, 3:11 pmI think when many of us piss and moan the powers that be see it as the same-o, same-o. I'm still holding out (a fading) hope that there will be some sort of schism in college sports where schools can choose to remain on the amateur student-athlete level or go the "pro" route by allowing the athletic department to break off from the university and become an independent entity, with paid employees, and licensing the school's name and mascot for it's sports teams.

I don't know when I will walk away. Probably never completely but I will likely slowly back away and allow the flame to die. My heart rules this area and I have been a K-State fan since I was 10. Then I ended up attending which was a surprise to my friends and to myself. It is probably where I grew up the most and turned my life around.
But what I learned at KSU tells me what is happening today is BS. My brain is pretty stubborn and my heart may very well lose this fight. I really like our football program today and am optimistic about basketball. Just not sure how much I can, or will, take. It takes time for true love to die.

College Sports Only
@CollegeSportsO
It's pretty crazy 3 of the 4 coaches in the 2024 Final Four were high school basketball coaches in 2010:
- Nate Oats: Romulus H.S. (Romulus, MI)
- Kevin Keatts: Hargrave Military Academy (Chatham, VA)
- Dan Hurley: St. Benedict's Prep (Newark, NJ)

That’s pretty interesting and telling of where college sports is today.
So NC St doesn’t have one starter that wasn’t a transfer? Wow.
Purdue has more of the lineup model I think they hoped for with transfers.

I am glad the tournament is almost over. The tv ads that come with it are horrible.

Looks like the powers to be want UConn playing Purdue, because Alabama is getting no calls to go their way.

Yeah I have no dog in this fight but UConn is getting the hawks Fog Allen treatment. I’ve seen at least 3 fouls against Bama that weren’t fouls and a couple out of bounds that should have gone to Bama. And while I don’t care for UConn, I don’t care for Bama either. We hear enough about them in football that I’m not thrilled to hear more talk in basketball, but IMO you’d have to be blind to not see Bama getting the short end of the calls so far.
