Re: Portal 2024
I would love to get Baba Miller, but I don't think it would be as a center. He had to play inside last year, as I understand it, and I think he is probably looking for somewhere to play more of the stretch 4 role, kind of like the Tomlin role. I would guess that is a big selling point from our staff. I have thought he might be waiting to be sure we pull in someone else at the post before he committed, if he is excited about us.

I see that Brendan Hausen, SG from Villanova is visiting K-State this weekend. Former 4* guard.
Knock down 3 pt shooter, although he is yet another guard.

He's got good size for a guard at 6'4 and 205 lbs. It doesn't look like he played a lot last season, although he is only a sophomore. If he came here, that would give us 7 guards on the roster, unless someone else is planning to transfer. I like it that he is a sharp-shooter from 3-point land.

His 23-24 stats are just okay. 38.1 from 3. 39.2 over all, 86.7 FT. I am estimating he is playing a little over half a game based on his per 40 stats. Appears he is primarily a 3pt. specialist. If he is a plus defender he may merit consideration on a roster crowded with guards. Appears to be a good shooter and solid player but not a dude at this point.

Yeah if he comes then you have to think someone’s going to leave. Just not enough minutes for that many guards. Been wondering who might be the odd man out. Glover since all the injuries and still not sure how healthy he would be? RJ? Did he show enough potential in his limited minutes last year?stlcatfan wrote: ↑April 18th, 2024, 6:39 pmHe's got good size for a guard at 6'4 and 205 lbs. It won’t be the two that just committed. Ames you would think will be solid. Castillo is the highest KSU recruit since Beasley.
He only played 6 minutes against us and was 0-2 so not one of Nova main contributors. Just would like the see the rest the open scholarships go to either bigs or really good high school players.

One of the KSO guys posted this:
Major, major shooter. Hausen attempted 160 three-pointers this season to just 16 two-point attempts.

It would be nice to have someone who can come in and quickly make a basket.
It seems like we go into a purple funk for a few minutes in many games and get behind.
Seems like if someone gets hot others will get there.
If he is a good shooter, I would think that would help with spacing out players.
The Coaches are trying to find players for a team, not marquee names.

I would not be surprised if Brendan Hausen is not our next signee out of the portal.
A 3 point sharpshooter guard from Villanova. Looks really good on 3 pointers off fast breaks and good ball movement from passing. Averaged 17.6 minutes of playing time per game last year, 38ish percent on 3s, and around 85% free throw shooting.
This kid did not play for some team in team in a mid major conference. Villanova is in the Big East. This following video is insane. Some guy is catching rebound and throwing the ball to a coach, who then passes it to Hausen who shoots. The kid makes 50 3 pointers in a row.

More about Hausen I found...
Ranked 136 overall in the National 2022 class, Hausen was a highly touted recruit out of high school receiving offers from over 20 Division I schools, his final list included Villanova, Arizona State, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Texas Tech.
Villanova played guards who penatrated and kicked the ball out to a shooter. Man we now have guards who can penatrate. Tang wants a high octane offense next year that can beat the heck out of people.
