you seem disturbed that some of us choose to defend weber from unnecessary assaults, 'play hard' and all. an explanation was due. it was given. there were circumstances that continue to leave some of us dismayed. and it's not going away because you demand it. jfc, yourself.

If you go back and read, I wasn’t the one who raised Weber from the dead. I simply responded to others who did.Snyder wrote: ↑April 12th, 2024, 8:15 amJust curious since I was not on this board during the Weber years. What is your obsession with him? Number 1,2,3,4 apply to most any coach. It's just strange staying so attached to a guy who not only left but trashed the fans when he did.learnin wrote: ↑April 12th, 2024, 1:03 am
I’m quite aware of Weber’s unimpressive over all record at Kansas State. I can make the argument that many good coaches would have not fared much better and some not as well IF they faced the exact same set of circumstances.
1. No recruitment cheating
2. No transfer portal
3. Multiple years of a true round robin coaching against the likes of Kruger, Self, Hoiberg, Huggins, Beard, etc.
4. Two covid years where
a. three freshmen played before no home crowd
b. Those freshmen, now sophomores, had to start conference play with half a team for four games.
5. Beginning your K- State coaching gig with a good percentage of the fan base wanting you to lose.

My base point and this is a repeat on Bruce Weber
How many Big 8/XII Championships did Lon Kruger, Dana Altman, Asbury, Wooldridge, Huggins, Martin, Underwood win at KSU, WVU, OU, OSU?
That is well over 50 seasons by some very good coaches and have ZERO, ZILTCH, NO Championships.
WEBER Got TWO!

We get it. There's a faction of posters on here that love Weber regardless and even though his overall winning percentage was average at best and his last 3 consecutive years sucked monkey balls, he's still beloved (yes he won 2 championships - 1 with FM players). At the same time, they hate FM, who had the best winning percentage of the last 3 coaches. The same people are anti-Brad Underwood for some strange reason (only thing I can figure is he coached with FM and he was the alternative to their beloved Weber). A few of the faction posters are anti-Tang because of his religious beliefs. Weber did some good things (won 2 championships) and did some bad things (losing). FM did some good things (won a lot of basketball) and some bad things (cussed like a sailor and might of cheated a little). Tang has done mostly good things to date. Time will tell how it works out long term.

1. Had a player die at OSU under the supervision of his strength and conditioning coach while running stadium steps in 105 degree heat. That kind of making players tough is BS.
2. And left OSU for more money after one mediocre season that resulted in NCAA sanctions for violations that occurred under his supervision.

Whatever, keep pissing and moaning about the past, if you choose. Where are the people that have left KSU now? Have they achieved more? Weber? Martin? Currie? Schultz? I'd say, NO! My point is, we have good things going on and some of you choose to bicker about the past. We're in better shape now. Enjoy it!
I openly admit that I was a Martin fan, but I'm damn glad he's gone. I'm also damn glad Weber is gone. I think we're in better shape and, for one, am sick of the divisive agendas. Of course, ya'll are free to keep arguing over spilled milk, but it seems really stupid considering that we are doing just fine without any of the above.

I was not a Frank Martin hater. He was very animated with his guys on TV and I hoped like crazy it didn't get worse when he wasn't on TV. He was a good coach and I liked his teams, but I was not surprised when he was let go. Looking back on it, I think it was for the better that he left.
I was never a Weber hater. I think his guys like him, but for one reason or another, he just wasn't a consistent winner. I don't think he was ever the outright winner of the two conference championships, but I was happy that he was. After 10 years of up and down seasons, I don't think he ever would have been THE guy. 10 years at .500 basketball would get a lot of coaches fired no matter when they coached. It is the reality for the last 3 decades or more. The board can argue about Weber as much as you all want, but the thing is, he's gone and he isn't coming back.
None of us know what is in store for Tang in the next few years. Coaches like Tang will always be in other teams' crosshairs when they are looking to fill a position. It is a double-edged sword. On one hand, it is a compliment to the university and Tang that other teams see him as a well thought of, very good, up and coming basketball coach. On the other hand, it can be very nerve wracking ever spring that he is a target and might entertain the idea of moving on. It is the nature of the business.
The hate for Tang that has emerged by a few posters is incredibly superficial. There has to be something else fueling that hate other than the things previously stated. Those posters won't say what it is, but they seemingly take it very personal that Tang is coaching at KSTate. I am glad they are in the minority.
Fitz and Kurtz, far too often, are like a bipolar cat. They love the love, and then bite. Not a fan of Voth much either. Went too long is this post, but I could talk about the podcast crowd for a while. Time for another thread.

a lot of this discussion, for me at least, revolves around fairness and class. i believe weber was treated poorly from the get-go but was terminated for good reason. both things can be true. and revisiting history is not wrong until the facts are revised to fit the narrative.
