NCAA men's championship game viewership since 2019.... Is the pattern a coincidence or does it represent the free agency era and more and more people having just lost interest, especially if their team isn't playing? The last 2 years speaks volumes to me. I hope this is the case. More people need to turn it off and maybe the morons at the top will take notice to what they are doing to the game.

2019 19,6 million
2020 Covid
2021 16.9 million
2022 18.1 million
2023 14.6 million
2024 14.8 million
Good points. Even the women's final outdrew the men's for the first time ever. And it's not like the finals were Delaware vs. Southern Utah. It was two number one seeds from established programs.

I'll never get why they don't have college championship games on Saturday night. Especially football. That takes some of the luster out it for me immediately. I work early and can't make it to the end on Monday nights.
I really had no interest as the Big 12 was out of it. And couldn't care less for either team in there, tho I was pulling for Uconn.
I do believe the trend is for real and I'd like to see all the champ games take that hit for lack of fan enthusiasm and perhaps send a message. But sure that's just wishful thinking.

I was lurking on the Baylor 247 board to see if there was any late-breaking news on Drew and the Kentucky job. It's actually quite interesting and a little crazy with people tracking planes to and from Lexington, KY and who was on those planes. Scott Drew apparently posted a tweet today from a Mexican restaurant in Waco with a booster (who I think looks like Coach Tang :) ) to prove he was not on that plane from Lexington. Others were saying the Tweet was fake and were even using the TV behind them in order to date stamp the photo. Apparently, Kentucky fans who saw the Tweet were calling the restaurant to talk to Coach Drew. Still others are saying it was Drew's family that was on the plane. Supposedly a decision will be made by tomorrow.

Here's a link to the site if you want to check it out. Today's posts begin about halfway down page 3 (thread titled, "Calipari") with an update from Trilly Donovan.

Drew will likely take the Kentucky job, which means Tang will be offered the job in Baylor. I don't want it to happen, but I think Tang will go back to Waco. I fear that KState will struggle to find a quality replacement.

I agree spot. This going to be a sad weekend for many K State basketball fans I fear. Nate Oats came out and issued an emphatic statement he was not going any wear. I am sorry I need more than a slick video that I am not certain what it means. Learnin is right many of us have adulation for Coach Tang just like programs such as KU and Duke and other fans have for their Coach. Like we had for football Coach Bill Snyder. More like a marital bond in which you know no matter how crappy things get your spouse will not abandon you. That is how you get a rabid fanbase.

Recently, with the Arkansas job, it was like he was caught on a date with another women. That weakened the bond. Now we the fans are concerned that our bond will be destroyed by an old flame.

I hope not, but a real word from Tang confirming that he still is committed to his side of the relationship would help a bunch. I would like to see a mass of students rally on Tang’s lawn and let him know how much they care. Old Memorial stadium would hold a sizeable crowd.

If Drew takes the Kentucky job, no doubt Tang will be on the short list to replace Drew at Baylor. But there will be others from the Drew coaching tree who will also be in contention. I'm thinking that Grant McCasland will be their first choice, followed by Tang. I think it will be hard for Coach Tang to leave after the whole Arkansas affair and him agreeing to a contract extension, pay raise (for both himself and his staff), etc.

The video Coach Tang put out on Twitter X implied that he felt God was not finished with him here in Manhattan so we'll see, I guess.

Edit: I just saw SCKScat's post about Baylor reaching out to McCasland. Sorry TTU, but I hope he gets the call if Drew leaves.

I respectfully disagree. I think he stays.

Glad to hear that. I think family was a major reason for him staying in Waco.

Whew!! I thought we were going to lose Tang. I have been following K State Sports since the 60s, and so many times our hearts have been broken. I am closer to dying and I would like to see something special happen. I don't think anyone else is going to make a razoo for Tang this year at least. I still hope Coach Tang gives a statement of affirmation about wanting to be our coach.
