Blocked shots -- times have changed
I think officiating needs to change on blocked shots. To be scored a blocked shot, there needs to be "all" ball and "NO" lower body contact.
Over the decades, the shot block call has changed dramatically. Used to be it was rare to have many blocked shots at the rim. Now a'days, a block at the rim is like a rugby scrum.
Rough play is killing the sport of BB.

It is a melee on all shots at the rim. I agree it is not fun to watch. Will there be any changes? I sadly, think not.

It won't change, because if they call all fouls, then fans will be pissed its a free throw contest with no flow. The fans would have to endure that for multiple seasons while coaches taught differently, players learned to play differently, and officials grew the nads to actually call all fouls, especially on bluebloods. Not gonna happen.

a change i would like to see is nullifying the charge call on drives when the charge is taken by anyone other than the primary defender. this slipping under drivers by third-party defenders is unfair to the game.
"What is your fair share of what someone else has worked for?" Sowell
I see tons of players lower their shoulder, initiate contact with the defender, drive them down the lane, then whine about getting fouled after throwing up some off-balance garbage straight into the defender's forearms or chest. I don't think we need to reward that kind of play any more than we already do.

Great Post! I’ve been thinking the same thing for years. The inside game is gone. No more dunks, no excitement. Just 40 foot butt shots.ToledoCat#3 wrote: ↑February 18th, 2021, 2:41 pmI think officiating needs to change on blocked shots. Offensive players on a drive are much better at getting their body into the shot blocker. Makes it a lot harder to block a shot and always creates contact. Calls almost always go against the shot blocker at the college level.
I don't think their is an answer to it when dribble drive and three point shots are primary offense.

And no one has mentioned carrying the ball while dribbling and taking 3 steps on every other drive.
