I wonder who will be blamed since they won’t have Currie?

knowing sean will be our next coach, what's the point in your question other than to stir the pot?

Purplepain and I are on the very same page. :fistbump:
We'll never have a statue of Currie with his hand out... but I'll take Currie over the old AD every year after year after year.

Currie was better than Tim Weiser. He also is a good fundraiser. However, I have not particularly been enamored with his coaching selections or his relationships with coaching staff. Overall his tenure at Kansas State was a good one.

Wake me up when we go on a building spree unparalleled in K-State history, which was done very tastefully.

And combined with a year included when K-State won three conference championships in football, basketball, and baseball.

The Currie era was one of openness with regular tweet communication to anyone who cared.

We played by the rules.

And finally, and very importantly, he raised more money when he ran the K-State AD than most people thought possible.

I will say the Tennessee situation didn't flow so well. Part of it was politics, with a SEC school. They don't play.

Okay, throw the rotten eggs. :D

I agree with most of your post.. If, however, John was party to back room deals as was suggested, he needed to go. We should have learned from the Ron Prince secret deal that cost KSU millions. I guess we'll know in a month or so.

Got to give him credit for efficiency. He got hired, burned Tennessee football to the ground, and got fired all within 8 months. It took him a couple years to ruin basketball here so at least he's getting quicker.

How soon we forget the way the national sports press was having a field day feasting on Kansas State Athletics when the news broke of the underhanded money deal with Prince. There was talk of donor's closing their wallets and predictions of dire times ahead for K-State Athletics. There was an air of glee from many of the pundits as they relished in the deception. John Currie steps in, gains the trust of the donors and rights the financial ship in short time. The facility renovations, during his tenure, were astounding. But, because he would not tolerate the X rated mouth of a coach who looked like a raving lunatic on the sidelines, he drew the ire of many.

I'm at the point where I wish they'd get rid of Weber and make an offer to get Frank back. Perhaps we could save some money on Kleenex and be done with the hurt.

Is that your prediction or just sarcasm?

Count me in the pro-Currie camp as well. Was he perfect? Certainly not. But I thought he did a pretty good job while he was here, especially in getting our financial house in order, building up our athletic facilities in a first-class manner, and keeping our programs in compliance with NCAA rules. By the way, wasn't Currie named "Athletic Director of the Year" while he was here?

Regarding what happened at Tennessee, things could have been handled better, no doubt. But I look at the coaches he tried to hire (Schiano, Brohm, Gundy, Doeren, Leach) and I'm thinking these are pretty darn good coaches. Tennessee fans are more to blame in my opinion. Who did they think was going there to be their next coach? Urban Meyer? Nick Saban? And what about Fulmer's role in all of this? What a mess now in Knoxville.

The cult of Currie with a blow today. Anyone that can't get along with HCBS is toxic in some way imo. His arrogance is his biggest weakness and it caught up to him. I have no doubt he leaked the Snyder/Leavitt info, fits with his vindictive personality. Thank God AD Taylor is going to choose the next football coach.
