I was amazed at the turnout for the Ohio State spring football game. It was on ESPN.
In this portal era why would want to put your stable on full display to the world. Seems to me you are just inviting other coaches to come steal your chickens.

You don't think other coaches already know what OSU has in terms of players? You can't hide anything these days. NIL, Portal, pod casts, social media, etc. Ain't it fun......(sarcasm)

I do wish KSU went with a spring game. Even though in past year's it was more or less an exhibition, it seemed to add some flair to the program. I hope the game returns next year.

I liked the spring game just to watch the upcoming talent- but I’m ok with giving it up to minimize injuries

One year, maybe Klieman's first year, they had what may be called a meet the players day. Kind of a fan appreciation day where you got a team photo and the players signed it. Fans went from table to table and met the players under the west concourse. Coaches were there as well. I'm sure the guys got sick of signing their name but meeting them and visiting was fun.

klieman feels a 15th practice is worth more than the press from playing a traditional spring game. he's headstrong. but it's hard to question his choice. spring games under bill were boring as watching dirt decay.

Anybody remember the spring games/scrimmages back before Coach Snyder? Typically, fights would break out between the offensive and defensive players and the coaches (usually Mo Latimore) had to get in the middle of them to break them up.
